There
will be a symposium on the afternoon of 31 May 2007. The objectives are:
- To
inform the audience and visitors to the RCS website about current issues in the
Commonwealth and its role in the world.
- To
provide an opportunity for discussion and input into the preparation for the 2007
Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
- To identify opportunities
for NGO’s and the private sector.
The
theme of the 2007 CHOGM is "Transforming Commonwealth Societies to achieve
political, economic and human development". In his New Year’s message, the
Commonwealth Secretary General said that in 2007, the Commonwealth will renew
its collective efforts to strengthen democracy and development.
In
addition to members of the RCS and the Federal Government, invitations will be
issued to the High Commissions, NGO’s and the private sector.
